Upper mustang trek, the district of Mustang was, until 1950, a separate kingdom within the boundaries of Nepal. The last king, the Raja of Mustang, still has his home in the ancient capital known as Lo Manthang. Upper Mustang is also known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom because it wasn’t until the 1990s that tourists were permitted to arrive the region.
While Upper mustang trek in the Upper Mustang region of Nepal, we can esteem the inimitability of tree-less landscape, rocky trails and views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and the other Himalayas.Upper Mustang, being in the Himalayan rain shadow, is one of the regions in the country suitable for trekking even during monsoons. After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport, we will be received by a representative and will drop off at the hotel. We then check-in at the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be hosted by Himalayan Glacier. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Bus to Pokhara (take up to 7 hours) to cross about 200 kilometres. Also the Trishuli River initiative you may adore with beautiful local villages. Evening visits Lakeside area of Pokhara city and stay overnight.
A short morning flight to Jomsom, through the world’s deepest Kali Gandaki Canyon with the magnificent vision of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. After morning tea, walk to Kagbeni. Overnight at Kagbeni.
After breakfast, we will leave lower Mustang and enter Upper Mustang. Walking for some time we can see the Gompa Kang and numerous caves in the west. 1 hour of further walking, we reach the village of Chuksang, where there is the majority of Thakali people but they live in. walking we reach the village of Chuksang, overnight at tea house.
First villages come to Chele after passing this village the stream via the broken canyons and ruin castle walls on the around cliffs. After passing the tiny bridge and up climb for about 45 minutes brings to Chele town. Afterwards, the path goes up slowly windswept terrain up to at 3,540m. Normal decent for a while takes you to Samar for the overnight stay.
We will start to ascend from Samar and in half an hour we reach an edge which foremost into a valley and another valley full of juniper trees. We endure walking and cross the small river and reach the base of the Shyangmochen. At the end of the day, we should have walked around 5 hours. Overngiht at Geling.
From gelling, the path goes up genteelly via the fields up the centre of the valley, crossing under the Tama Gung village, the walk carries on an extensive climb across the head of the valley to the Byi La Pass 3,950m which is also high place of the trek as well the cross itself happens to be the southern boundary of Lo-Manthang.
We begin our journey by descending to a gorge and cross a river before commencement our uphill trek to Lo La pass which at 3950m. From the top of the pass, we can admire the beautiful Lo Manthang village than we descend to Lo Manthang which is a beautiful walled village. We can enjoy the views of the Himalayas including Nilgiri, Tilicho and Annapurna I, Bhrikuti Peak as well as Damodar Kunda (pond) is quite good. Overnight in Lo-Manthang.
We spend the day touring three major gompas of the town namely Jhampa, Thupchen and Chhoeda. All of these gompas have undergone skilled refurbishment over the last two decades. We can also trek to Tingkhar which is an eye-catching village located north-west of Lo-Mangthang. Overnight in Lo Manthang.
We ascend to the Yamda La pass at 3,850m. We trek through poplar forests and barley fields and reach Nyi Pass at 4,010m. From here, we descend to Ghami. Overnight in Ghami.
The walk to Samar lasts for around 4-5 hours and the day is not very tiring so you can take recurrent disruptions to act together with the villagers and take pictures. You continue up on the side of a steep canyon to a pass after which you then descend on a pleasant trail to Samar, situated in a grove of Poplar trees.
Our trek from Samar goes to the less known region by the westerners, descending on the same way for 3 hours via Chele town and then arriving in Mustang Khola, Trek leads climbs further up to the ridge, on leaving the village way down below the walks is less on the continuing tough trek and we arrive our overnight camp.
Less visited upper part of Mustang, you will be viewing more of related treks, the trek from the camp towards to slow climb for less than an hour up to 3,970m. here from the trek leads down a slope to Muktinath. . Evening you will visit the holy temple of Muktinath and overnight at hotel.
Today is the last day of our trek and it is a long one. After trekking for a while, we come to an end of our Mustang trails and join the trails of the Annapurna circuit. We break for lunch at Kagbeni. After lunch, we continue our trek to Jomsom for an overnight stay.
We take early morning 20min flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, we transfer you to the Hotel . The day is for we exploring the beautiful valley Pokhara with its Natural and cultural beauty.
After breakfast, we say goodbye to the beautiful northern skyline of Pokhara and drive towards Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. We will have a farewell dinner in the evening. Overnight in Kathmandu.
It is time to fly back to home keeping all the exhilarating experiences of Nepal in mind. Our office representative will depart you to the Airport for onward journey.
