A reasonably common and medium length river trip, it is merging exciting bleached water with fine scenery. One of the most well-known names of the Himalayan Rivers, it is not only known among Nepalese people. The Kali Gandaki promotions in Mustang(an enclave of Nepal) which is stabbing into Tibet(the other side of the Himalayas), and drifts down here.
The Kali Gandaki is a level and interweaved river, graceful in a baked open valley. As it summersaults down between the royal Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna ranges, it creates one of the world’s earnest valleys.
The traveller Michael Peissel ran this bounce off the river in a small hovercraft in 1973 and at least two other groups have propelled and kayaked in this section.
All day you have to endure keeping paddlers busy against all technical rapids on the Kali Gandaki River. Nowhere else is it conceivable to find such diversity on a 3-day raft trip. Nice drops, glittering chutes and tempestuous rapids provide class III to IV+ runs during the fall and spring seasons.
After your exhilarating whitewater trip, you have options either to drive or fly back to Kathmandu or to visit the Royal Chitwan National Park or again you can go for the trekking trip in the popular area of Annapurna region for few days.
Destination: Kali Gandaki River Rafting
Group Size: 12
Season: Spring and Autumn
Accommodation: 2 nights riverside beach camping
Duration : 3 Days.
Start Point: Maldunga, 3 hours from Pokhara
Finish Point:: Mirmi, 5 hours to Pokhara
Drive to Maldhunga from Pokhara. Before we hit the raft, the rafting equipment is fixed with the help of our proficient guides and they will brief you about the raft and protection measures. We will hit the Big Brother, Small Brother and many other torrents today. Our campsite for the first day will be at Modhi Khola.
Once the rafts are filled we start down the river for a day mixed with adrenaline, calm and remarkable scenery including views of Annapurna I and Himchuli. We will tackle many class III sections and the thought-provoking class IV named REFUND. This section of the river is plentiful with creepers and luxurious undergrowth hanging from the cliff faces. Our area is below the village of Purti Ghat.
After a whole-hearted breakfast, the camp will be packed up one last time. We oar our last rapids before we hit an impartially long flat section to finish of the day. Moreover, for those of you concerned, you will be offered the chance to have a go in the kayaks if you wish. It’s the time to unload the rafts one last time, pack the bus and drive around 5 hours back to Lakeside Pokhara where we can have a merited bath for the first time in 3 days! For those short of time, this is the best way to understand Nepal’s river philosophy.
